CCTV DRAIN SURVEYS & JETTING

We've invested in the latest state-of-the-art technology and equipment to ensure your drains are kept clear and in good working condition.

CCTV Drain Survey

As domestic drains and sewers are underground and out of sight, it can be difficult to spot potential issues until they've become a much bigger problem. Using the latest CCTV technology, we can now easily investigate the underground sewer network with remote-controlled cameras and diagnose the issue with minimal disruption. The CCTV images provide us with an indication of the extent and location of blockages. They also help us to identify other damage, such as hairline cracks, collapsed sections and stubborn blockages, as well as displaced joints that allow pests to enter the drainage system and rodent infestations.

Drain Rodding

If the obstruction is found to be in the external drains and sewers, we can use a technique called drain rodding to clear away the blockage. This involves attaching multiple rods together to create a metre long manoeuvrable rod that is then pushed through the pipework from the access chamber. We can also use this technique to pierce and grab debris. After rodding, the drains can then be blasted and flushed out to fully clear away any leftover debris.

Drain Jetting

We also use drain jetting to clear away blockages. This technique uses high-pressure water jets to get rid of the build-up of debris, fats, grease and oil to maintain a healthy drainage network. Water is sprayed at up to 5,000 psi through the pipework, breaking down obstructive materials and removing them from the system. This is a highly efficient means to clear away most blockages.

Drain Maintenance

In most cases, drains get blocked due to a build-up on the inside of the drain although it can also be down to external factors outside of your control. There is a number of signs to look out for with blocked drains, such as:

  • Unpleasant smells coming from your drains or near your property

  • Toilets rising to the top or slowly draining when you flush

  • Sinks and bathroom equipment draining slowly

  • Plugholes gargling when they are draining

  • Flooding or high water levels from gullies or around manholes

We recommend regular jetting and pre-planned maintenance for your drains. This can protect pipes and remove excess residue, preventing build-up and future blockages when you least want it.

Useful information on CCTV drain surveys, drain jetting and drain rodding

Here are some frequently asked questions about why it's important to maintain your drains:

What is a CCTV drain survey?

A CCTV drain survey is used to investigate and diagnose blockages in an underground drain system. Using a remote-controlled CCTV camera that is operated by one of our engineers, they can use the camera to film inside the sewer network and create a live feed of images. These images can be used to identify where in the network the blockages are and the cause. For example, blockages could be a result of a build-up of grease, debris or foreign objects in the sewer. A partial or complete blockage can also be caused by tree root intrusion into sewer pipes or debris entering the sewer system.

What is drain jetting?

Drain jetting uses high-pressure jets to clean blocked drains and sewer pipes. It works by spraying water that is stored in tanks through a high-pressure hose fitted with a jetting nozzle. Water is sprayed at up to 5,000 psi through the jets to breakdown the build-up of debris. It is a highly efficient means of clearing drain blockages.

What is drain rodding?

Drain rodding is used to clear debris and blockages from a sewer pipe by attaching multiple rods together. These rods are pushed through the pipework to effectively push, pierce or grab the offending debris out of the way.

Why is it important to service your drains?

Regular services of your drain can also help as follows:

  • Avoid unnecessary blockages
Failure to maintain your drain network could cause backing up of the drains, damage to the property and the inability to use the facilities within the property.

  • Prevent unpleasant smells
A blockage in your system could lead to nasty smells. Not pleasant for anyone and especially when you least want it!
